Organising weddings is not an easy thing, especially when it’s away from home. I would like to give you a little guide for your wedding on Lake Garda so that your day will be unforgettable & you can spend one of your most beautiful days together at your dream wedding location with as little stress as possible.
Tips for your italy destination wedding in Tuscany
1. EARLY PLANNING
When planning your wedding in Tuscany, keep in mind that popular wedding venues are often fully booked months, if not years, in advance. So plan early and secure your dream location at least 12-18 months in advance.
2. THE RIGHT DATE
In Tuscany you have perfect wedding weather almost all year round, but the best months are May to September. However, avoid the height of summer, as Tuscany gets so scorching hot and you certainly don’t want to do that to yourself and your guests.
3. LOCAL VENDORS
To ensure that your wedding in Tuscany runs smoothly, I highly recommend local service providers! Especially florists / caterers should be regional at best, for photographers or planners you are welcome to work with service providers who have experience with weddings abroad!
4. ACCOMODATIONS FOR YOUR GUESTS
Make sure that there is enough accommodation for your guests in the vicinity of your planned wedding location. Many locations also offer accommodation directly on site, which is of course ideal for your destination wedding and you will always have your guests around you!

How much does a wedding in Tuscany cost?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer here – the cost will vary greatly depending on the location, the number of guests and the scale of your celebration. A wedding in Tuscany can cost between €15,000 and €100,000, depending on your individual wishes and possibilities.
What are the legal requirements for a wedding in Tuscany?
To legally marry in Italy, foreign couples need certain documents such as a passport, birth certificate and a ‘Nulla Osta’, a certificate stating that there are no impediments to marriage. Wedding planners with experience of weddings in Italy can be a great help here! Please note that it is not possible to get married in the church at the Abbazia San Galgano, for example, as the church is not consecrated.
How can I travel to Tuscany?
Tuscany is generally easy to reach by all means of transport. If you are flying, Florence or Pisa airports are your best options. However, I generally recommend a car to anyone travelling to Tuscany, as the roads to the villages are often less developed or not close to the airports.
By car, you can reach Tuscany from Munich via Austria and the Brenner Pass in about 7 hours.
If you prefer to travel to Tuscany by train, this is also an option, as the rail network is relatively well developed. The Florence railway station is a good starting point as there are many connections from here to the various regions of Tuscany.
