WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IN TUSCANY

I’m Sebastian – a destination wedding photographer based in Bavaria, Germany. Over the past years I’ve photographed more than 40 weddings across Tuscany & Italy, from intimate elopements in the Val d’Orcia to multi-day celebrations in the Chianti hills.

What draws me back to Tuscany every season isn’t just the obvious beauty. It’s the quality of the light in the late afternoon, the way historic villas hold both grandeur and intimacy at the same time, and the natural rhythm a Tuscan wedding day tends to follow – relaxed, aesthetic, real.

If you’re planning a wedding in Tuscany and looking for a photographer who works quietly, observes closely and delivers images that feel lived-in rather than staged – I’d love to hear from you.

a calm, documentary approach. shaped by light, space and emotion

In Tuscany, photography is not about control.

It’s about awareness.

My approach is based on three principles:

1. Observation over direction

Instead of constantly directing, I observe.
I anticipate moments as they happen — rather than creating them artificially.

2. Light as the foundation

Tuscany offers some of the most beautiful natural light in Europe.

From soft morning tones inside historic villas
to warm, golden light in the late afternoon — every image is shaped around it

3. Loose Editorial simplicity

Clean compositions, intentional framing, no unnecessary distractions.

Images that feel effortless — but are carefully considered.

What your wedding day in Tuscany can feel like

A wedding in Tuscany follows a natural rhythm — one that allows moments to breathe.

The day often begins slowly.

Getting ready takes place in quiet rooms filled with soft light.
No rush, no pressure.

The ceremony usually happens in the late afternoon —
when the heat softens and the landscape becomes warmer in tone.

As the sun begins to set, aperitivo transitions into dinner.

Long tables, candlelight, conversations that stretch into the evening.

And somewhere in between all of this —
the moments that truly matter happen.

Unplanned. Unstaged. Real.

Frequently Asked Questions ABOUT TUSCAN WEDDINGS

01.
How far in advance should I book a wedding photographer in Tuscany?

Most couples planning a Tuscany wedding book their photographer 12 to 18 months ahead — sometimes earlier for peak dates in May, June, September and early October. These months fill up quickly, and the venues that tend to attract couples like you often have limited Saturday availability well over a year out. My honest advice: once you have a venue and a date in mind, reach out early. Not because there’s pressure, but because the planning process is much more relaxed when the people you want around you are already confirmed. If your date is closer than that, it’s always worth asking — I occasionally have openings from cancellations or last-minute availability.

02.
Do you travel to all parts of Tuscany?

Yes, and I genuinely enjoy it. Tuscany is a region I know well, from the Chianti hills between Florence and Siena to the quieter landscapes of the Val d’Orcia further south, and the coastal areas around Maremma. Each part of the region has its own character and light, and I find that knowing a location — even just having been there before — makes a real difference to how a day unfolds photographically. If your venue is somewhere I haven’t visited yet, I’ll often arrive a day early to walk the grounds, understand the spaces and find the spots that will matter most on your day.

03.
What does a full-day wedding photography package include?

A full-day package typically means I’m with you from the getting-ready moments in the morning through to the first dances or dinner in the evening — usually around 12 hours. Within that time, I cover everything: the quiet details of the morning, the ceremony, the aperitivo, portraits during golden hour, and the reception as it unfolds into the night. You receive a curated gallery of fully edited images, delivered in a consistent style — no heavy filters, no artificial processing. Just honest, light-led photographs that reflect how the day actually felt. Every package is slightly different depending on your day’s structure, so I prefer to talk through the details personally rather than offer a one-size-fits-all list. If you’d like to know more, the best next step is a short introductory call.

04.
We’re not from Italy – how do you help us navigate the planning process?

Depending on the scale of your wedThis is one of the most common situations I work in, and one I genuinely enjoy. Most of my couples are based in Germany, Austria, the UK or further abroad — planning a wedding in a country they may have only visited once or twice. I’m not a wedding planner, but over the years I’ve built a good understanding of how destination weddings in Tuscany tend to come together: the timelines, the logistics, the moments that need more time than couples expect, and the ones that tend to take care of themselves. I’m always available for a conversation beyond just the photography — whether that’s talking through your venue shortlist, understanding what a typical Tuscan wedding day looks like, or simply answering questions that don’t quite fit anywhere else. Consider me part of your extended team, not just a vendor you’ve booked.ding, I work with a trusted second photographer to ensure full coverage.

05.
What’s your approach on the wedding day – will we notice you?

Honestly, most couples tell me afterwards that they barely noticed I was there — and that’s exactly the intention. I work quietly, without directing constantly or pulling you away from your guests for staged moments. My approach is observational: I stay close, read the room, and move with the day rather than against it. That said, I’m not invisible either. When the light is right and a portrait moment presents itself naturally, I’ll suggest it — gently, briefly, and always in a way that fits the flow of the day. The goal is that you experience your wedding fully, and find the photographs waiting for you afterwards as a genuine reflection of how it felt — not a record of how well you posed.

06.
Can you recommend wedding planners or vendors in Tuscany?

Over the years I’ve worked alongside a number of planners, florists and other vendors in Tuscany whose work I genuinely respect — people who understand the rhythm of a destination wedding and bring the same care to their craft that I try to bring to mine. I’m always happy to share recommendations personally, tailored to your style, venue and budget. A planner who’s a perfect fit for an intimate elopement in the Val d’Orcia might not be the right choice for a 120-person celebration in the Chianti hills — so I prefer to make suggestions once I have a sense of what you’re envisioning. Just ask when we talk.
